How to Make Security on NoSQL More than just an afterthought

Chad Hardin, Director of Engineering, Koverse Chad has a rich background ranging from serving in both combat and military intelligence U.S. Army units as well as over ten years in professional software development. Since leaving the military, he has worked on cutting edge software solutions and distributed systems, including Mobile Agent software systems and Big Data solutions. Prior to starting his professional software career and while still serving in the U.S. Army, Chad was involved in developing open source software, notably the GNUstep project.
Chad holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and is actively pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, also from NSU. Chad also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.

When designing big data systems on top of noSQL databases, security is all too often bolted on as an afterthought. However, robust and flexible security is possible if some basic design principles are followed. We walk you through one implementation that is built with security in mind from the ground up, leveraging cell-level access control with Apache Accumulo, as well as overall multi-layer security.
